The purpose of this site is to freely share information in hopes of inspiring a grassroots change in how people manage their careers and are being managed.
Click Here for a brief explanation on why this is essential.
Here you will find an uplifting perspective on work, including what workers control exclusively to have and enjoy their most meaningful career - regardless of whether they have or lack job satisfaction.
My name is Jeff Garton. I grew up in rural West Virginia where I thought my career would be spent underground in a coal mine or outside in the oil and gas fields—and neither appealed to me.
I dreamed of working indoors for companies that made the popular brands I saw advertised on TV. I specifically wanted a job in HR to learn what makes some people more likable than others and how they succeed despite life's challenges and disappointments.
Thanks to Kraft Foods and the Miller Brewing Company, I achieved the career I envisioned, gaining something far more valuable than anticipated.
What I discovered didn’t always align with the guidance I received from my parents, teachers, and even my blue-chip HR training. Something was missing.
Then one day, when I was tasked with helping to plan a layoff, several of my coworkers disclosed what I hadn’t realized I was searching for. The missing something was in plain sight all along, yet we failed to see it...
Discern their life’s purpose.
Instinctively know which jobs to choose and when to leave.
Motivate how they manage their careers autonomously.
Sustain their well-being and performance when disappointed.
All without regard to whether they have or lack job satisfaction.
What I learned disrupts the status quo and is still not being taught when it should be. People are not bound by their deficit circumstances but are unleashed through the control of their THOUGHTS.
The information provided below was produced based on field observations and empirical research that began in the 1970s and continues today. The remedies culminating from that research, the “Science of Flourishing,” were never fully assimilated into the workplace. Largely because they challenge the efficacy of existing management practices. Here are your instructions:
